2009 BIMP-EAGA–PRC Framework of Cooperation
BIMP-EAGA and the People's Republic of China (PRC) agreed to cooperate on nine areas under a Framework of Economic Cooperation signed during a meeting in Cha-Am, Hua Hin, Thailand on 13 November 2009.
The nine areas of cooperation are agriculture; forestry; fishery; tourism; exploration of minerals, energy and other natural resources; infrastructure; human resources development; development of alternatives sources of fuel; and finance.
Cooperation may be in the form of dialogues; joint studies; promotion and development; information exchange; investments; research and development; joint training and education, including capacity building; and any other forms of cooperation as may be jointly decided by the countries.
The deal was signed by Lu Kejian, Ministry of Commerce, PRC; Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Brunei Darussalam; Raldi Koestoer, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Indonesia; Razali bin Che Mat, Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister's Department, Malaysia; and Merly M. Cruz, Undersecretary, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippines.
The ministers agreed to hold annual meetings at the senior officials' level to plan, implement, and/or review the progress of their cooperation, and identify new priorities and directions.
