Memorandum of Understanding on Cross-Border Movement of Commercial Buses and Coaches

Date Published
November 02, 2007

Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Singapore on 2 November 2007 to facilitate cross-border transport through commercial buses and coaches in selected routes within the subregion.

The MOU is expected to help promote, develop, and enhance trade, investment, tourism and culture exchange among the four Southeast Asian countries.

Earlier, at the 3rd Summit in Cebu City, Philippines on 12 January 2007, BIMP-EAGA leaders agreed to further facilitate cross-border movement of people and goods through adoption of sub-regional interstate transport and transit transport agreements. This supports the goal of the BIMP-EAGA Roadmap to Development 2006–2010 to put in place border arrangements that will facilitate the flow of goods and people and reduce transport costs within the subregion.
